Thatcher Demko Addresses Canucks Drama Amid Injury Challenges
Vancouver Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko has spoken out about recent drama surrounding teammates J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson. Demko, recovering from injuries, left Thursday’s game against Seattle due to back spasms but remains optimistic.
After returning in December from a serious knee injury, Demko is navigating a challenging comeback. “It’s a new path, a new challenge,” he shared with Sportsnet’s Ian McIntyre. Despite setbacks, Demko believes he will regain his top form.
Since returning, Demko holds a 2-1-3 record with a .881 save percentage. This contrasts with last season’s impressive .918 save percentage. “I’m ready to get back to how I was last year,” he confidently stated.
On the alleged dressing room rift, Demko downplayed the issue, attributing the speculation to the team’s performance. “People wouldn’t talk about the issues if we were winning,” Demko remarked. He emphasized the importance of on-ice success to reduce off-ice distractions.
Demko’s return to peak performance could help the Canucks silence critics and improve their season.
