Eagles Secure Playoff Victory Over Packers, Advance to Second Round
The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers 22-10, securing a spot in the NFL playoffs’ second round. Tight end Dallas Goedert scored a 24-yard touchdown late in the third quarter, sealing the Eagles’ victory.
The game started perfectly for the Eagles, capitalizing on a fumble by Keisean Nixon during the opening kickoff. Jeremiah Trotter Jr. recovered the fumble, leading to an early touchdown. Saquon Barkley’s 16-yard run set up Jahan Dotson for an 11-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts.
Barkley rushed for 119 yards, maintaining his dominant form. Meanwhile, Hurts completed 13 of 21 passes for 131 yards, adding 36 rushing yards on six carries. Despite the win, Hurts connected with star receiver A.J. Brown only once for 10 yards.
The Eagles’ defense shone, forcing three interceptions from Packers quarterback Jordan Love, who played through a painful elbow injury. Quinyon Mitchell’s late interception sealed the victory for Philadelphia.
Jake Elliott contributed two field goals, including a crucial 30-yarder in the fourth quarter. Despite a 31-yard run by Josh Jacobs setting up a Green Bay touchdown early in the final quarter, the Packers failed to close the gap.
Green Bay’s offense struggled, hindered by injuries to key receivers Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed. Christian Watson, their top wideout, was already sidelined.
Saquon Barkley credited the team’s preparation and resilience for the win. “Playoff football is never easy,” he stated. “You just want to win, no matter how.”
The Eagles now await their next opponent, determined by the Monday night game between the Rams and Vikings.
