Canadian Sprinter Shines at Paris 2024 Olympics

Audrey Leduc set a new Canadian record in the 100m dash, clocking in at 10.95 seconds, surpassing her previous record. This stellar performance secured her a spot in the semifinals at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Meanwhile, fellow Canadian Jacqueline Madogo did not advance past the qualifications, finishing 4th in her heat with a time of 11.27 seconds.

Top Performers in the Qualifiers

Leduc’s impressive time ranked her 6th overall in the qualifiers. Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith from Côte d’Ivoire led the pack with 10.87 seconds, followed by Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Britain’s Daryll Neita, both at 10.92 seconds.

Leduc’s Reflections and Future Prospects

Reflecting on her race, Leduc expressed satisfaction, saying, “My goal was to set a personal best and I achieved it! I think I executed well and I’m excited to race again.”

A Remarkable Season

Leduc has had a remarkable season, breaking the 36-year-old Canadian 100m record and subsequently the 200m record. She qualified for both events at the Olympics and contributed to securing Canada’s spot in the 4x100m relay. Jacqueline Madogo, who also competed in these events, did not advance, placing 30th overall.

Upcoming Semifinals

The semifinals, featuring 27 sprinters, including Leduc, will take place on Saturday, promising an exciting continuation of the competition.
