Félix Auger-Aliassime continues his winning streak at the Australian Open. The Canadian tennis star secured a second-round spot with a four-set victory over Jan-Lennard Struff. Auger-Aliassime, seeded 29th, won 6-3, 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 in just 2 hours and 24 minutes.
The 24-year-old entered the tournament after claiming his sixth career title in Adelaide. His victory over Struff marked his sixth consecutive win since a loss to Borna Coric at the United Cup on December 28.
Félix’s recent performances demonstrate consistency and confidence. During his winning streak, he defeated three top-25 players, including world No. 4 Taylor Fritz. These successes lifted him to No. 23 in the ATP rankings, climbing six spots from last week.
Against Struff, Auger-Aliassime delivered 19 aces and 47 winners. He won 80% of points on his first serve and remained composed despite losing the third set. This win marked his first Grand Slam second-round qualification since Roland-Garros in May 2024.
Notably, Félix achieved a rare “bagel” (6-0 set) against Struff. This was his first since the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he blanked Maximilian Marterer.
Next, Auger-Aliassime faces Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the second round. The Spaniard, ranked 66th, has lost all three prior matches against the Canadian. Their most recent encounter was at the 2023 Doha tournament.
Auger-Aliassime’s form and focus suggest he could go far in Melbourne. Tennis fans eagerly anticipate his performance in the upcoming rounds.
